Immerse yourself in the French language by taking courses at the Université Catholique de l’Ouest’s CIDEF (Centre International d’Études Françaises) and living with a host family in Angers for the month of July! Participate in French language coursework each week with regular field trips and hands-on learning, as well as weekend excursions to le Mont Saint-Michel, the Normandy beaches, the castles of Loire and more.
This program is based in the beautiful city of Angers, on the Loire River, in the midst of the Anjou winemaking region and the Châteaux de la Loire. A youthful, bustling, refined city, it also boasts a magnificent old town and one of France’s finest Medieval castles. Paris is an hour and a half away by TGV, and the Atlantic ocean, along with cities like Tours, Poitiers, and Nantes. Classes will be taught at the CIDEF, an internationally-known school of French as a second language.
This four week program will build students' language skills through participation in language and writing classes, conversation classes and lab work. Students will also take a 3 hour per week course taught by the resident director, focusing on a comparative study of French and American culture. They will return with 6 hours of French credit at UNL. The ideal time to participate in this program is after 202 or 210, but students at other levels are encouraged to talk to a study-abroad advisor.
