Themes in German Literature, Culture, Film, and Theater (GERM 302)

Focus on aspects of contemporary German culture, including literature, graphic novel, film, theater and popular music.

Advanced Communication and Writing (GERM 304)

Exploration of response to issues of sustainability and migration in German-speaking societies. Emphasis on broadening critical reading and writing skills in an interdisciplinary context.

Linguistics in German (GERM 405)

Phonetics, phonemics, morphology and transformational grammar as applied to standard German.

History of German Poetry (GERM 453)

Critical survey of the development of epic and lyric poetry from the beginning to the present time.

Relationship between literature and contemporary thought from the eighteenth century to the present.
