Majors: French and Global Studies
Year: Junior
Muth is spending the semester in Pau, France, through the USAC program.
While abroad, Muth has expanded her knowledge of the French language and culture, dedicating herself to her coursework and volunteering at a local middle school as an English teaching assistant.
“This experience has allowed me to have an inside look at the French education system and also directly use and improve my intercultural communication skills,” she shared. “I’ve been able to improve my French and intercultural communication skills immensely because I have to use them every single day!”
Beyond academic growth, Muth has also learned how to face the unknown, developing critical problem-solving skills during her time abroad.
“Being immersed in a different culture poses so many unexpected situations, and I’ve gained the confidence and problem-solving skills to face them head-on,” she said. “That is important for any career path, and it has without a doubt helped prepare me for a global one. The skills one gains from going abroad are valuable anywhere, and it’s an experience I’d recommend to everyone.”
