Gloria Flores is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Spanish and Latin American Cultural studies in the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures. Her research focuses on the literary, cultural, and pedagogical politics of dance and bodily movement in the American Hemisphere. Her primary interest is Mexican Cultural Studies, specializing in the intersection of 20th and 21st-century cultural productions, including literature, performance, and visual arts. Her research interests include Critical Theory, Postcolonial Studies, Border Studies, Latinx and Chicanx Literature, and Dance Studies.

Additionally, Gloria is a dance performer, choreographer, and artistic director of her community-based project “Pendular Borders: A Work on Dance and Border-Crossing,” which examines the narrativity of migration from kinesthetic approaches. The Mellon Foundation has supported this project, which has been developed across the US-Mexico Border since 2021 and will continue in Lincoln, Nebraska.
