We are proud that three of the undergraduate students who received Gilman scholarships are attending the Berlin Program, also known as Deutsch in Deutschland.

The Berlin Program is centered on intensive German language courses where students earn three credits plus up to 17 language course credits from the Humboldt-Institut that can be transferred to Nebraska.

The three students are:

  • Alexander Webster, College of Arts and Sciences
  • Victoria Handford, College of Fine and Performing Arts
  • Lane Vasa, College of Business

"This speaks not only to the quality of the Berlin Program and the students applying to it but also to the program's appeal across the colleges at Nebraska," Priscilla Hayden-Roy, German professor and the coordinator of the program. "Nebraska students from all disciplines see the advantage of studying abroad, and the college is offering them excellent opportunities to gain cultural and linguistic proficiency abroad."

Students visit famous sites in Berlin and study alongside other students from around the world.
